Loving Yourself Meditation
My friend Rhonda emailed the following message:
Drop everything. Buy this book: Love Yourself as Though Your Life Depends Upon It, by Kamal Ravikant
I went to Amazon, purchased this skinny book, and waited for it to arrive. You see, Rhonda and I have a relationship where we want the best for each other. When we find something good, we share it. So, I knew to click on my Amazon link and make the purchase. And, I did.
Last week I placed this book into my book bag and walked down for my morning Starbuck’s experience and sat in my padded chair. With an iced, venti, green tea, no sweetener, in my left hand I opened this book with my right and read it cover-to-cover in less than ten minutes. And I knew the action I was to take. Meditation Mondays in May would be on self love and I would purchase this book for everyone who was to participate.
After much brokenness, struggle, and pain, I too woke up to the realization I was to love myself, be my own best friend, advocate for my Highest Good, and give the world my gifts and talents from the loving respect I had for myself. I loved myself into who I am today and my life changed for it. This book is the story of a man who did the same thing. He shares his simple four or five daily practices he incorporated to move into Self Love. One practice was a powerful Light meditation which I began practicing immediately. And, I wanted to practice it with a group of individuals to share insights while keeping each other accountable. As I contemplated this, I became giddy and energized.
So, Meditation Monday’s in May will be four weeks, thirty days, of practicing self loving meditations and actions. The author, Ravikant’s story begins:
I was in a bad way. Miserable out of my mind. There were days when I’d lie in bed, the drapes closed, day outside sliding into night and back to day, and I just didn’t want to deal. Deal with my thoughts. Deal with being sick. Deal with heartache. Deal with my company tanking. Deal….with….life.
As he engaged in the self love practices he goes on to say:
In less than a month, I was healthy, I was fit again, I was naturally happy, I was smiling. Amazing people were coming into my life, situations were naturally resolving themselves.
So I say, let’s not take his word for it, let’s try it. And, you don’t have to be sick, tired, and falling apart to benefit from this technology. Join me in opening to an even more Abundant Good Life. If you live in the Phoenix area, and this calls to you, you are invited to join me in the North Central area, Monday evenings, May 6 through 27, 6 pm to 7:30 pm for Self Love Meditations. The cost is $20 per evening. I ask that you commit to all four evenings and be willing to meditate for a minimum of seven minutes per day. If this is yours to do, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will send you the address. Your book and team are waiting.
