Insight and Prayer for Well Being

The following excerpt is taken from Dr. Holmes’ book This Thing Called You: You have discovered the spiritual universe. Many others have discovered the same world, but each must make the discovery for himself. You are going to have a lot of joy sailing around this world of yours. Don’t fight the opinions of others, or waste your time arguing over these things. Follow the inward gleam of your consciousness and you will arrive. Whatever you identify yourself with you will become like. Whatever you resist until you make it a reality, you will also become like. Therefore, “…resist not evil and it will flee from you.” Don’t fight your fears, see through them. There is nothing in God’s world to be afraid of. Say: I know there is a spiritual center within me which is perfect. I am now telling my own consciousness automatically to ward off any thoughts of doubt or uncertainty. I sense that every state of doubt, every consciousness of negation is leaving me....

Gratitude’s Generative Power

When my seven year old granddaughter is grateful, she jumps up and down, screeching inaudible noises while clapping her hands. Everyone around her knows she is grateful. Her auric field is on high alert of an energy akin to star twinkles mixed with chocolate candy Kisses. She is all in. And yet her gratitude, at age 7, is contingent on something tangible. Her grandmother is coming to town. The two of us are going on a date to see the latest kid movie while sharing popcorn in seats that recline. Or, she is getting a toy she REALLY, REALLY wants. And yet the spiritual journey invites us to be grateful regardless of condition. After a crappy diagnosis we didn’t want to receive. After losing a job we worked so hard to get. After a check or two or three bounced. And yet when things aren’t seemingly going our way, we can experience dejection and want to go to bed. Oprah tells a story of phoning Maya Angelou over...

Artist Julia Cameron’s Favorite Prayer by Dr. Ernest Holmes

Get this. It is mid-January and 80 degrees this morning at 9 am in Los Angeles. To a Seattle girl and a Phoenix woman, this time of year and that time of the morning is supose to be chilly. Not so. Not here. Despite the warmth, I still refuse to wear shorts and continue to wear a sweater on my morning walks. This morning I listened to an interview between Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith and Julia Cameron. It would be the sixth or seventh time I’ve heard it. Each time I listen, I focus in to Julia Cameron’s recitation of her favorite Ernest Holmes’ prayer. Today and every day I expect good. I anticipate meeting new friends. I joyously anticipate contacting new situations, which will increase my livingness. My life is an adventure. I know that wonderful things are going to happen to me. I know that everything I do shall turn into good for myself and for others. Amen. I lean into the energy of this...

Living Without the Idea of Sin

I am on the final edit of a book I have been working on for over a year.  It is a book of daily lessons based upon the work of Emma Curtis Hopkins, a Christian Mystic.  Yesterday I edited a lesson based upon the idea “In God there is no sin.”  This was written in the late 1880s and was a radical idea.  Even today it can be for many of us. Who would you and I be without the idea of sin?  Without the idea of good, bad, right, and wrong and myself as the judge of it all?  How much energy would we have in my bodies to utilize for creative endeavors if it wasn’t tied up monitoring sin?  Judgement is a big business in our country and we tend to feed upon watching and commenting upon “wrongs” we perceive others have made. This morning, then, as I was involved in my spiritual practice, I read from Dr. Ernest Holme’s book The Celestial Voice.  In it...

Excerpt from The Voice Celestial

This poem segment is worth reading out loud and then contemplating pieces of it for several minutes.  If it resonates with you, read this for one week to see what transpires for you.  I believe it is High Truth with blessed wisdom in it.  Love you … In every drop, the sea: in every cell, The Universe: in every soul, the life of God; and each contains full power of all. Life does not come in parts but wholes. There is No separation, no near nor farther out; No deeper down nor higher up, no void, No yonder; and no hopes that cannot be Fulfilled. The Power-of-All obtains in all, And Everywhere is here, and here is There. Draw thou on It if though wouldst truly be Complete nor suffer thirst again. Each soul Is drawn from circuits of the universe Where life and action have their center and Where every point is joined with every point And each event unites with each event In sequence after...
