They Were Blessed…
I had lunch at an Indian Restaurant, striking up a conversation with the waitress.
As she was telling me bits and pieces of her life story she dropped in the sentence “and they were blessed with a baby.” It struck me and I stopped her. Say that again, please. With her beautiful accent and big white teeth smile against her dark skin she said, “and they were blessed with a baby.”
English is her second language so I stopped her to say “do you know how most of us native English speakers would say that?” We’d say “She had a baby.” I pointed out her High Truth that a baby is a blessing as is everything. I played for the day with changing my sentences to incorporate this spiritually aware and astute observation. “She was blessed with that job.” Now she (whomever that is) may say, “I worked hard for it.” But where did the energy or drive to work hard come from? Or, “I used every bit of my talent for that.” Again, where did that talent come from?” “Or, I AM the blessing to the company as I bring them business and profit.” Where did the customers and ideas come from? And, YES, she is also a blessing to the company for a company is made up of people working together for a common good. No matter how far back we trace our beginnings, they always go back to God. God as the seed for talent. God as the Life Force. God as the Idea Factory. God. God. God. It couldn’t be done without the Only Thing that Is.
I am also aware that we can go through life without cultivating our talent, meeting the moment, showing up or feeding our energy. We can be bums (in the nicest sense of the label). Our personality that meets The Presence and recognizes its parentage needs to commit, partner, and at times, surrender. This is the spiritual walk, the spiritual journey, and the process of awakening.
It was so much fun to go around saying, “I am blessed with the money in my wallet.” “I am blessed with a beautiful day today.” “I am blessed with a dog park nearby.” “I am blessed with friends who listen, care, and are kind.” It is my intent to keep this practice going.
From me to you, I hope for you a blessed day.
