Remember You are Multi-Dimensional
Several weeks ago I spoke at a Congregational church. The minister text me to ask if I would be willing to teach forgiveness practices to the congregation. As I laid in bed thinking about how I would teach forgiveness different than I did on the Forgiveness Tour 22 year ago, downloads and insights began pouring through me and the curriculum was being written.
I wanted to title the class something like, “Being Human isn’t for Sissies,” or, “Living isn’t for Sissies.” You see, when we come from the consciousness or viewpoint that we are human and things are happening TO us; life is really hard. From this place it becomes very easy, if not probable, to close our heart and joy diminishes. The practice then becomes opening the heart until ALL feelings, no matter our opinions about them, are free to flow through our bodies. At this point we feel all feelings from remorse to betrayal to disappointment to traumas — and this isn’t for sissies. Allowing ourselves to feel and to love our feelings, though, is the gateway to Heavenly consciousness where EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING works together for our Highest Good.
Once coming from this consciousness, there is nothing to forgive, in the traditional definition of the word.
When I did the forgiveness tour I loved the definition that to for-give means to give-forth. Forgiveness, in this definition is about giving forth. As Wayne Dyer used to say “when an orange is squeezed, you get orange juice. When you are squeezed what do you get?” Forgiveness, becomes a self-awareness tool of the energy left behind us in situations. With this awareness, we may have some clean up work to do.
This brings me the title of today’s blog. You and I are multi-dimensional beings. As we awaken we are at choice to operate through our physical (earthly), emotional, mental, and/or spiritual selves. During our spiritual unfoldment we experience periods of integration, periods where we are operating from one aspect of self, and moments of alignment/coherence. A friend of mine, Lonnie, wrote a book about people who risks their lives to leave hate groups. He wanted to find out the determining moment when someone would leave the familiarity and brotherhood of the group to begin a different and new life. The story I remember most vividly was a member seeing the famous photo of a firefighter carrying a baby out of the bombed Oklahoma building. This photo broke his heart wide open. He couldn’t imagine someone risking their life for another. Once he saw this photo he had to leave his closed heart way of living. He just couldn’t stay any longer. He was changed. Unfolding is a time for awareness and compassion of self; AND awareness and compassion of other.
One of the ways our heart opens is it gets broken. From the physical/human consciousness we are in so much emotional pain from grief that we can’t get out of so we must feel the energies in our body. We are incapable of by-passing. Grief reminds us we are here for such a short time. Grief reminds us we aren’t in charge. Grief is evidence within us that we have the capacity to love. It is our willingness to allow the Holy Spirit through the grief process to awaken us to the Beauty of the world. We are reminded of what is and is not temporary. And we are humbled. Humbled to the core. Once our heart is open and our mind/heart becomes congruent then we feel A LOT and our heart gets broken over and over again from the cruelty of humanity to the silly things the human race gives value to. We are given the gift of understanding and the practice of being a witness.
How will I teach forgiveness differently? That forgiveness is a necessary part of waking up; and an ongoing gratitude for who we are. This’ll be fun.
