How Did You Wake Up This Morning?
Think back to how you woke up this morning.
What was the first thought that went through your mind? How did you greet today? What was the first, second, and third action you took? And, did these actions bring you closer to your Soul or push you away from your Self?
I have had the rare opportunity this past year to observe the lives of many people close up and personal. These past eight months I’ve been a gypsy rover. I lived mostly in California, some in Arizona, and another chunk in Nevada. I rented out my home and took to the road. I slept on floors, blow up mattresses, guest beds and couches of friends and relatives. I watched first hand how people, other than myself, wake up in the morning. I didn’t think much about it until I worked with a client this week who told me she has the uncanny ability to know how her day will be the minute she wakes up. She believed it to be a special, intuitive power, and really, it is a choice.
What I know is that each of us decide when we awake in the morning how we are going to approach and meet the day; and that’s all that matters. A centered individual meets the day, regardless of circumstances with an energy field of their own cultivation.
One of my friend hosts woke up every morning to tell me how much she hated her job followed by the sentence “here goes nothing,” as she walked out the front door. When she returned from work I would then hear about how her prediction was correct. She hated work, the people at work let her down, and she was exhausted. (Note to reader: this way of thinking really is exhausting). A younger friend host placed her emotional state and view of the world upon her husband’s mood. If he woke up happy, then she could have a good day. If not, then she would brood along side him. Contrast this with another host who woke up to sit and do her spiritual practices, read some inspirational readings, pray, and enter into the day slathered in Love. The feeling tone in each house was vastly different, as was the level of satisfaction in one’s life.
So I return to my first question, how do YOU wake up in the morning?
We train ourselves through repetition to cultivate and create the life we desire to live. That is why most all weight loss books and success books suggest a routine practice in order to achieve results. This is why spiritual masters sit in meditation and prayer daily accessing the Presence. Who you and I are matters as out of our Being Nature flows our action.
Decide today how you will set the tone of your morning. I do it with spiritual practice and meditative walking. How will you do it? How do you do it?
My desire is for you to live the life you came here to live and to allow this life to bring you deep satisfaction.
A virtual hug to you,
