Knocked Out of a State of Bliss

Three weeks of bliss. Uninterrupted, pure bliss gone in one judgment. One thought that I knew how someone ought to live their life better than they are doing it … Ouch. And, I was kicked out of paradise. Yep, twenty one long and glorious days of Love is All there Is. Conditions don’t define me. Spirit rocks this house. Life is a beach on a sunny day with dear friends and a kickin’ sunset. Then driving down the road, letting my mind take a detour into the thought ghetto and I was snagged. I never spoke the thought. I didn’t take action on the thought. I didn’t gossip about this opinion of mine. I merely entertained it and I went from Heaven to outside its doors knocking loudly. There I was, driving down the street, one moment Here and the next moment there. It was that quick. I returned home and entered my meditation practice. Open heart. Breathe deep. Remember who I Am. Restored. Back to...

Super Bowl (and a lot more) is In the Air

Helicopters above my condo woke me up this morning. The Super Bowl is in town changing the way the city and I both operate. Yesterday, my twenty minute drive to the hairdresser was 45 minutes long. Stopped at a light I saw thirty or forty Seahawk fans cross the street. My attention was on one Seahawk fan with this blue 12 t-shirt on signifying he is a fan;  the 12th ingredient to the team’s success. Brown and grey speckled hair, slight belly pouch, surrounded by guy friends; he was carrying a blue and clear plastic purse. A man-bag. No longer metrosexual. Now, practical. I giggled. Once my body rolled from the bed and my feet hit the tiled floor, along with this memory, I hear John 3:16 in my head, “for God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whomever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Taken literally, this passage is saying God loves me so much he murdered his son so...

Metaphysical Christmas — “Place”

I find it ironic that the more I’ve become awake to the God Presence within me, the less desire I have to refer to the Bible as a form of authority or guidance. Just last month I told my visioning group that I would cease placing emphasis upon a 2,000 year old story and speak, instead, with the metaphor of the Cosmos; a 15.8 billion year unfolding. After making this bold declaration I had a client session and watched myself speak one Biblical reference followed by another to a hungry client. Now, today, I find myself speaking metaphysically of Christmas holding the Bible in reverence for its masterful spiritual revelation. The story of Jesus’ birth is the story of the Consciousness of Christ (Divine Love) birthed and then grown within humanity. Each location and character refers not to a linear historical event, but instead to a multi-dimensional birth within each person. This blog entry will look at Mary and Joseph’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. “Joseph went up from Nazareth,...

Oh, How I’ve Missed Myself

Exile and forgetting are natural states for most human beings, but so are remembering and recalling. All tasks are completed through cycles of visitation and absence. Poet, David Whyte I received an email from a friend the other day checking in to be sure I was all right. She referenced my lack of blog posts as her primary concern for my well-being. As I read her email, I knew she knew me. I have missed the part of me that is a writer. I have missed the Dashboard of WordPress, the competing thoughts vying for the limited space on the post. I have yearned for choosing the term that describes the winning thought. I have ached to select the picture-paints-a-thousand-words photos to marry the text. I have missed hitting the Preview, then the Publish button. I have missed sharing who I am and what I know with people who value my work. Yet my distraction has been a good one. This summer I purchased, then renovated a condo I’ve come to...

Spiritual Insights on The Super Bowl

My big confession up front. I’m not much of a football fan. Another confession, I am a HUGE Seattle fan and my love of Seattle has overridden my neutrality for The Sport. I have found myself counting down the days until the big game on Sunday. I’m talking about it with strangers. I have a reservation made at a sports bar with my daughter and some friends for the big event. I have my Seahawks temporary tattoos ready for application; I am invested. So, today while in meditation, I pondered about this new compulsion to watch Sunday’s game. I decided to compare the little I know about football with what I know about spirituality. Here goes — Insight Number 1: At some point in our life, each of us will play the role of each major position of the game. Starting with the team owner. Each one of us has held the responsibility at some level of managing financial or relationship investments we have made. We know what...
