Happy Easter Fool’s Day
“Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.” I Corinthians 3:18-19
I caught myself giggling in delight today being as though it is both Easter and April Fool’s Day. I emojied Happy Easter to my Christian and spiritual friends and sent April Fool’s Day emoji’s to my Jewish friends. Then, I looked at the Fool emoji and realize it had some characteristics of Jesus. I couldn’t resist pointing them out.
The Fool emoji was of a jack-in-the-box. I noticed right away that the Fool was too big to be boxed in and had to rise. Jesus could also not contained and rose. Then I started seriously comparing what I know about the two symbolically.
The Fool is recognized as a wanderer. He had a knapsack on his back and moved from town to town. Jesus, likewise, was known to go where the people needed him wandering or walking. He is often depicted with a staff, utilized for herding sheep as well as being supportive during the walk. There was nowhere off-bounds for the fool. He could be found in the king’s court or in amongst the poorest of the poor. Jesus was notorious for loving everyone without discrimination of class, gender, or behavior.
The fool card in a tarot deck is shown in three ways. Either it has no number, when the rest are numbered. Or, it is either the first or the last card. This aligns with the Christian reference to God as being the Alpha or the Omega.
The fool represents new beginnings, innocence, originality and faith. These attributes are clearly forefront in describing Jesus and what he represents.
Of course I am having fun with these two comparisons, a bit light-hearted. Today is the biggest day in the Christian year as it is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus demonstrating Eternal Life to humanity. Today is a reminder to me, and my Christian brothers and sisters that energy cannot die or be destroyed but is always in a state of reconfiguration. This is the Good News for we can continue to die to our old, small, ego-driven selves and be born and transformed from and by the Consciousness of Christ in Jesus.
Happy Easter!!
You are Loved,
