Space that Regenerates and Enhances Healing

Dear Friends,

All space is not created equal.

I am aware of this as I am in the process of renovating an empty condo and making choices that directly impact my soon-to-be living space. I try on colors, textures, woods, prints, within my mind and feel into the energy combination of each choice. In my bedroom and meditation space I want tranquility. No televisions, no computers, and colors that relax. In my office I am looking for vitality, movement, and design choices that encourage and energize my creativity. The kitchen feel I’m going for is a bit funky and the living room inviting. With my focus on space, I picked up a new magazine named Experience Life and read an article on space. Finding the writer’s conversation aligned with what I know, I want to share her article on Healing Space.

1. Windows that look out to nature have healing properties. In a Pennsylvania hospital, a study was done in 1984 comparing patience who had undergone gallbladder surgery. Half in recovery had windows that overlooked a grove of trees. Half looked at a brick wall. Those who saw nature were released on average one day earlier than their wall-staring counterparts.

2. Quiet environments or those with relaxing music restore.

3. Sunlight boosts moods and regulates our body’s clocks.

4. The presence of loved ones makes a big difference. The body produces hormones around those we love that create feelings of well being. Touch by loved ones turbo boosts the effect.

5. Good smells have good results. This is one I know well. For years now I have used 100 percent therapeutic grade essential oil when I’ve wanted to shift my body’s energy. Last year while in Los Angeles I had a severe respiratory issue that required a breathing machine and intense drugs to try to break through the blockage. No luck. However, essential oils did the trick with no invasive properties in a few hours.

6. Walking is nature’s antibiotic. Our bodies love to walk and in response will bolster our immune system with an investment of only 30 minutes per day.

7. Holy sacred locations induce and can promote spontaneous hearings. I remember spiritual teacher and writer David Hawkins recommending a young man sit in a cathedral every day for a year as a way to heal an incurable disease.

Isn’t it wonderful to be alive on this diverse planet and choose the space which we occupy?

From my living room to yours,

bonnie
